A new model of plate tectonic evolution from 1 Billion years ago to the present
This Geonews video is about an exciting new animation about one of the big ways that Earth has changed over the last billion years. Recent progress in plate tectonic reconstructions has seen models move beyond the classical idea of continental drift by attempting to reconstruct the full evolving configuration of tectonic plates and plate boundaries. Merdith and co-authors created this new animation about the changes of plate tectonics on Earth for the last billion years. ~~~~~~ Merdith, A,S., Williams, S.E., Collins, A.S.
